Steve Otis Norsworthy I, age 63 of Brookport, IL, passed away at his home on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, after a brave fight with cancer. He was surrounded by his family.Funeral services will be Tuesday December 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Coram officiating. Burial will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery in Pope Co., IL with Military Graveside Rites.Steve is survived by his loving wife, Doris; seven children, Loretta Williams and husband Barnes, Stacy Yates-Ward, Michelle Fairfield-Ford and Jason Shoulta, Steve Norsworthy II and Abigail Good, Shawn Fairfield and wife Autumn, James Norsworthy, and Nathan Powalish; 17 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Shirley Hagan, Cheryl Ann Peek, and Sheila Giltner; a special brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Woodrow Noble and Loretta Belle (Kreutzer) Norsworthy and stepmother Jewell Norsworthy; one sister, Vickie Belle Powers.He was a disabled veteran of the US Army having proudly served our country during the Vietnam War. He dedicated his life to the love of his life, his wife; he was a rock in the eyes of his children and a hero as a paw-paw. His unique sense of humor was legendary and his "ditty songs" will be passed on for generations to come. His home was filled with love, laughter and acceptance.
