IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen Taylor
Remy
March 22, 1952 – November 30, 2025
Stephen Taylor Remy, 73, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on November 30, 2025.
Born on March 22, 1952, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Carl William Remy and Betty Taylor Remy, Steve grew up on North Avenue in Metropolis, Illinois, alongside his sister, Suzanne. Active in sports and school organizations, he discovered a passion for music early in life, beginning guitar lessons at age 12. He later taught guitar and played in a band called The Little Pleasures. During his senior year at Massac County High School, he began dating freshman Angie Trieglaff after she invited him to the Mistletoe Dance—a moment that marked the beginning of their lifelong partnership. Steve graduated in 1970 from Massac County High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University in 1974, where he was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Psi, serving as both secretary and president.
In 1976, he married Angie and began a successful 30-year career with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as a sales representative. As he advanced in the company, he moved to New York, where he trained employees during one of Pfizer's largest expansions and later became head of strategic planning in the New York corporate office. His work with Pfizer took his family across the country—St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, New Jersey, and Connecticut—before he retired in Atlanta in 2007. Steve and Angie returned to the Paducah area in 2012. He was a devoted father to his two children, Matthew Lee Remy, born in 1984, and Mary Beth Remy, born in 1987.
Steve was a lifelong fisherman and outdoorsman, as well as a skilled craftsman who always had a project underway. He loved tinkering, inventing, and fixing anything that needed it. A natural storyteller with a deep interest in history, he had a gift for bringing people together with his calm presence, thoughtful listening, and steady problem-solving. He never met a challenge he couldn't work through, and he helped many others navigate theirs. Above all, Steve cherished his family. His grandchildren were his greatest joy, and they lovingly called him "BaBa." He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, devotion, and unwavering love.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Betty Remy, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Angela "Angie" Remy; his son, Matthew "Matt" Lee Remy of New York; his daughter, Mary Beth Remy of Paducah, Kentucky; and his grandchildren, Colin Tate Remy, 7, and Evelyn "Evie" Claire Reid, 13 months. He is also survived by his sister, Suzanne Remy Ware of Nashville, Tennessee, and her children, Taylor Marie Ware and Harrison Remy Ware; his brother- and sister-in-law, Darryl and Becky Bentson of Paducah, Kentucky; nieces Kelly (Tommy) Simmons and Kristen (Gustavo) Amaya; and great-nephews and niece Connor, Gustavo, and Ava.
