Sherry Ann
Williams
December 17, 1952 – April 21, 2026
Sherry Ann Williams, age 73, of Metropolis, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, passing peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 17, 1952. Sherry was a hardworking woman who spent her life caring for others. She often worked two jobs while raising her children and was known for always putting her family first. Most of all, Sherry loved Jesus. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and her favorite gospel hymn was “Most of All” by The McGruders. She was the best MaMaw to her grandchildren and deeply loved her great-granddaughter, as well as all of her nieces and nephews. Sherry fought a long battle with heart failure for over a decade and remained strong until the end. She was preceded in death by her parents Penny and Georgia Emery; her husband, Bill Williams; her stepson, Cameron Williams; and her great-grandbaby, Tamzyn Reed. She is survived by her children, Casey Ferguson-Batts (Shane Batts) and Clint Ferguson (Miriam Ferguson); grandchildren, Charlee Swader (Tyler Reed), Guy Ferguson, and Hannah Ferguson; great-granddaughter, Hazel Reed; stepdaughter, Amber Blades (and family); sisters, Wanda Sue Cole, Cindy Wilke, and Teressa Newbold; brother, Penny Emery; and many loved nieces, nephews, family, and friends. The family finds comfort in God’s promise: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…” — Revelation 21:4 Sherry will be remembered for her deep faith, her love for her family, and the care she gave so freely to everyone around her.
Private family services will be held.
