Obituary

Sherry Gray, age 75 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 9:00 am on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Hone with Donald Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Sherry was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She was a long-time owner of Brides Choice in Metropolis, member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and a volunteer at COPE Food Pantry. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother who is going to be deeply missed.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Heather Deckard and husband Drew; grandchildren, Addie Burkhead (Marshall), Kenzie Gray (Jay Hunt), Sadie Kommer (Tanner), Graycee Deckard, and Daniel Deckard; great grandchildren, Whitley Burkhead, Jett Burkhead, and Briggs Kommer; sister, Deloris Lambert (Randy); brother, Bill Barnhill (Sherry); sister-in-law, Joy Brey (Kevin); several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. Barnhill and Virginia Barnhill Jessing; husband of 53 years, Gary E. Gray; son, Darin Gray; brother, Rodger Barnhill (Gayle).

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27th from 10 am to 12 noon at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Sherry’s name to COPE Food Pantry, PO Box 761, Metropolis, IL, 62960.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Deckard, Marshall Burkhead, Tanner Kommer, Jay Hunt, Jeremy Barnhill, and Brandon Barnhill.
