Mr. Sanford "Sam" Wayne Thompson Sr., age 66, of Karnak, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. There will be no funeral. Burial will be held at a later date. Sam is survived by his wife, Gail Stubblefield-Thompson; one son, Sanford Wayne Thompson Jr.; one daughter, Angela Thompson; four stepchildren, Ronnie Dunlap and wife Cheryl, Troy Dunlap and wife Vicky, Brandi Van Meter and husband James, and Randy Stubblefield; one sister, Nancy Wasmus and husband Harry; one brother, Lewis B. Thompson and wife Darlene; 13 grandchildren, Justin, Kayla, Curt, Troy Jr., Cole, Alexis, Jacob, Matthew, Jordyn, Kaitlyn, Jace, Draven, and Darryl; 11 nieces and nephews, Carl, Christina, Jerry Jr., Tammy, Raymond, Michael, Brittany, Sierra, Destiny, Lyndsay, and Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Thompson and Barbara Hartzell; and one nephew, Lewis Thompson III. Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
