Sandra Rae (Gard) Smith, age 78 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 6:20 am on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Dixon Springs Ag Center in Glendale, Illinois. In memory of Sandra her family request that you would bring your favorite recipe to share.

Sandra was retired having owned of The Chocolate Factory in Paducah, KY for 41 years. She loved to cook, read, and was a member of the Pope County Homemaker's Group.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Jennine Searcy and husband Joe; son, Hadley Smith and wife Heide; grandchildren, Mason Searcy, Logan Smith, Colby Smith, Chance Smith and wife Jade, and Tyra Smith; sister, Shirley Caldwell and husband Dale; brother, Jerry Gard and wife Nessie; nieces and nephews, Desi Chumbler, Heath Caldwell, Brandolyn Rust, Nick Randolph, Tony Randolph, and Quincy Gard.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Helen (Shurtluff) Gard; husband, Franklin Gene Smith; sister, Carolyn Lee Randolph.
