Ruth E. Varvel, age 74 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 4:38 am on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Massac Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Pastor Mickey Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Pell Cemetery.

Ruth is survived by her son, Ricky Varvel; two grandsons, Ricky Joe Varvel and Eric R. Varvel; four sisters, Dorothy Sexton, Lula Belle Kickasola, Shirley Tanner and Judy Tanner; four brothers, Otis Wiley, James Wiley, J.L. Wiley and Bobby Wiley, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Landis and Freda (Stone) Wiley; husband, Clarence; Grandparents, Amos and Alie (Holt) Wiley, Sr.; one sister, Berniece Wiley; and four brothers, Pete, Scottie, Robert, and Arlen Wiley.
