Ruth F. Wasson, age 88 of Metropolis, Illinois died at 8:27 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Ruth was born on February 13, 1926, in Olmsted, Illinois to Otto Carl and Louise Dagner Schwieger. She married Gene Merle Wasson on February 22, 1961. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1997.Ruth was a member of the Methodist Church in Olmsted. She worked for many years in the Olmsted Postal Service, and retired from the Postal Service.Ruth is survived by several nieces and nephews.Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents; four brothers, Norman Gus, Raymond Otto, Cecil Hall, and Loren Harry Schwieger; two sisters, Thelma Bagby and Louise Golightly; and one niece, Paula Schwieger.Pallbearers will be Jim Bagby, Murray Schwieger, Bruce Schwieger, Michael Allcock, Darren Allcock, and Todd Childress.Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis, Illinois from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with the funeral following. Interment is at the National Cemetery in Mound City. Rev. Louis W.
