Ronald David "Ron" Bowman, age 83 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 3:20 am on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Sielbeck officiating with burial following in the IOOF Cemetery.
Ron retired from Honeywell and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Ron will be remembered for his quiet strength, steadiness, and the steadfast love he had for his beloved wife Helen. His love for his family was unconditional and selfless, shown not through grand gestures but in daily acts filled with understated humility, presence, and unwavering support. Ron had many passions, including fishing, music, restoring cars, and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. He lived a life filled with compassion and great appreciation for the world around him; Ron had an overall gentle spirit that truly left an imprint on everyone privileged to know him.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Samantha Bowman Hunt (Nate McCuan); son, David Bowman; grandchildren, Tabitha Shales, Kaci Featherston (Josh), Autumn Sutton (Matt), Lindey Mangold (Michael), Jay Hunt; great grandchildren, Evan Hornback, Brodi Hornback, Kate Sutton, Jenson Featherston; sister, Dee Costos; several nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Violet (Davis) Bowman; wife of 59 years, Helen (Flora) Bowman; daughter, Rhonda Shales; sisters, June Ramey, Mildred Hill, and Kay Wright; brothers, Charles "Corky" Bowman and James "Dub" Bowman.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 12 noon to 2 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
