Robert "George" Shelton, 90, passed away May 17, 2013 at Sylvia's Hospice House in Ocala, Florida. He was born October 1, 1922 in Kingsburg California, the son of the late Harve and Kate Shelton. Although he was born in California, the family returned to Massac County. An army veteran of WWII, he drove a fuel truck for Mobile Oil and later worked for Hinner's Bros. as a service manager until he moved to Florida in 1966. He retired from Federal Millwork in Ft. Lauderdale and moved to the Ocala area in 1985. Funeral services will be 1:00P.M. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Aikins Farmer Funeral Home with Rev. David Deem officiating. Burial will follow at the Zion cemetery. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Opal Shelton, his brother Charles and sisters, Floy Jump, Hautie Cockrel, and Clara Hausman. He is survived by his daughter Diane Giltner (Louis), grandson David Giltner (Colleen), granddaughter Debbie Giltner (Chris Kirvin), sister-in-law Mary Shelton, Brother Thomas Shelton (Frances), nephew Mike Shelton and Hosea Jump (Jeanette). Two great grandson's Ben and Jake Giltner. He filled an important place in the lives of his family and many friends. George will be remembered for his great stories, generosity, and laughter. He will be truly missed and never forgotten. Visitation will be from 12:00P.M. until 1:00P.M. Tuesday May 21, 2013 at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.
