Richard "Richie" W. Sparks, age 46, of Brookport, IL, died June 27, 2017 from injuries he sustained from a fall at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 8pm on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Seven Mile Baptist Church with Bro. Chris Sielbeck officiating.
Richie had a love for mechanics and anything with an engine. He also had a strong love for his dog, Red. He proudly served with the Brookport Fire Department as a Captain. Capt. Sparks served for a combined 10 plus years on the department as a firefighter and licensed Emergency Medical Responder. Richie was also a former Captain with Massac County ESDA.
Richie leaves behind his beloved girlfriend, Andrea McDonald of Brookport. He is also survived by his daughter, Hali Sparks of Benton, KY; father, A.J. Sparks of Metropolis; stepmother, Ida Sparks of Metropolis; two sisters, Tonya Davis and husband Tim and Jessica Sparks; nieces, Stephanie Willis and husband Aaron, Natalie, Ashley and Tenley Davis, and Kealey Wise; one great nephew, Hunter Willis all of Brookport; special cousin, April Lang; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Lucinda "Cindy" Smock; maternal grandparents, James "Ikie" and Ruby (Phillips) Nix; paternal grandparents, Dallas and Irene Sparks; and two uncles, Dallas "Gene" Sparks and Harlan Sparks.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at Seven Mile Baptist Church.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials contributions be given to the Brookport City Hall Fire Truck Fund 209 Ohio Street Brookport, IL 62960.
Arrangements are entrusted to Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.
