Rena (Hodge) Miller, age 84, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away at 12:11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Staton officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Rena was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family dearly. She owned and operated Dairy Queen for 28 years. She was a member of the Baptist faith and was a longtime member of the Metropolis Garden Club and Art Guild.
Rena was a talented artist who worked with stained glass, but her true passion was painting.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Dale Miller and wife, Jennifer, and John Miller and wife, Lori; daughter, Becky Burgess; grandchildren, Cade Burgess, Kennedy Burgess, Keaton Burgess, Kalen Miller, Jake Miller, Autumn Henderson (Brandon), and Amber Miller; great-grandchildren, Maybree Henderson, Asher Henderson, and Kaeson Burgess; sisters, Susie Munton (Gary) and Cynthia Gramlich (Dean); brother, John Hodge (Rob); and several nieces and nephews.
Rena was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. John L. and Helen Hodge; her husband, Larry Ray Miller; and her son-in-law, Chris Burgess.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made in Rena’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Pallbearers will be Larry Dale Miller, John Miller, Brandon Henderson, Cade Burgess, Jake Miller, Brad Miller, and Hayden Lee.
