Randy Kaye Knapp, 72 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Emmerson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.
Randy was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he worked in security forces guarding some of the nation's most strategic assets. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and enjoyed riding his Harley. He was devoted to God and country and loved his family very much.
Randy is survived by his sons, Daniel R. Knapp and Jesse David Knapp; grandchildren, Blake Knapp, Brylee Knapp, Landon Knapp and Carter Knapp; long-time companion, Ruth Walenta; and two brothers, Larry Knapp and Clayton Knapp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Louise (Mitchell) Knapp.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12th from 12 noon until the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given in Randy's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758816, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Knapp, Jesse Knapp, Michael Knapp, John Mitchell, Luke Mitchell and Larry Markus.
