Ralph E. Powell age 73 of Metropolis, IL passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. at the Baptist Health in Paducah, KY with his loving Family at his side. He was born in Massac Co., IL, to William Omer and Daisy Aline (Davis) Powell, who preceded him in death.Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 12 Noon at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home, with Dr. Joe Buchanan officiating. Entombment will be at a later date. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering for "all" immediately following the Service at the home of Todd and Kim Faulkner. The meal will be catered.Ralph is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Margaret (Trail) Powell; one daughter, Kimberly M. and husband Todd R. Faulkner; one son, Timothy E. and wife Kandice S. Powell; Paw Paw's "Little Angels", Kirsten M. Faulkner, Blake E. Powell and Dane M. Powell; one brother, Johnny Powell and wife Pat of Vienna, IL; one sister, Frances L. Holder of Metropolis; ½ sister, Margie Walton of Paducah, KY.; ½ brother James Paul Powell; several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; mother-in-law, Gladys (Dak) Trail; brother-in-law, John W. Trail; sister-in-law, Shirley M. Lanier. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Billy R. Powell, Donald L. Powell, Jerry W. Powell, Robert Jr. Powell, William P. Powell and Marshall R. (Shorty) Powell; ½ Brother, Omer (Tennessee) Powell and Father-in-Law, Leroy Trail. Ralph built, owned and operated Ralph Powell's Truck Plaza and worked several other small businesses and houses. Ralph was a truly a man of many hats. He did the job and did it well-Always helping those in need. He was loyal to his family. He retired from the Carpenters Local 640.
