Mr. R. Allan Bass, age 71, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Terry Foster officiating. Burial will follow with military rites in the Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis.Allan was a US Air Force Veteran and retired as a Lt. Colonel from the reserves after 31 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended Happy Hearts and enjoyed helping people with their legal and tax matters. Allan is survived by two daughters, Marni Cook, and Gina Yurevich and husband Greg all of Springfield, IL; one sister, Jacquline Foster of Metropolis; four grandchildren, MaKenzie Cook, Gabriella Yurevich, Giovanna Yurevich, and Grainger Yurevich; one sister-in-law, Wilma Bass; former wife and mother of his children, Glenda Bass; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hillis Eugene and Carrie Bell (Dean) Bass; one sister, Mary Cunningham; one brother, Gene Bass.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com
