Preston Warner Giltner, age 86 of Brookport, Illinois was born on April 3, 1939 in Massac County, Illinois the son of George S. and Elizabeth (Roberts) Giltner and departed this life on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Deaconess Illinois Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.
Gravesides services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Mt. Sterling Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Preston farmed with his father and retired from the Massac County Highway Department, where he worked as a truck driver. Pres was a sports car enthusiast and an avid motorsports fan. In his older years, he enjoyed riding his bike to meet friends for dinner. He also had fond memories of time spent with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.
Preston is survived by his siblings, George A. Giltner and wife Lynn Havens Giltner, Charles R. Giltner and wife Delores Sexton Giltner, Louis L. Giltner and wife Diane Shelton Giltner, Lillian Giltner Bishop, and Helen Giltner Kaylor; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Ramsey Giltner, Beverly Schaffer Giltner, and Beverly Burt Giltner; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Preston was preceded in death by his parents, George S. and Elizabeth (Roberts) Giltner; brothers, James R. Giltner, Wilfred Giltner, and Raymond E. Giltner; brothers-in-law, Morris E. Bishop, Sr. and Dennis Kaylor.
There will not be any visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the services.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Sterling Cemetery Fund, c/o Mt. Sterling Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1780 Mt. Sterling Road, Brookport, Illinois 62910.
Pallbearers will be Richard Buchanan, David Eckenberg, Herbie Burrus, Neil Lawler, Kenneth Ramer, Mike Powell and Don Harris.
