Mrs. Phyllis Harris, age 83, of Metropolis, IL, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning December 20, 2013 at Baptist Health of Paducah.A celebration of her life in her new neighborhood will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Community Christian Church located at 1150 Country Club Road in Metropolis. Pastor Mike Hardison will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Harris was a charter member of the Community Christian Church in Metropolis and a member of the Gideon Auxiliary. She loved playing bridge, ballroom dancing and reading. Phyllis was also the first recipient of the Lois Lane Award; an award given to an outstanding, working woman with an active role in volunteerism in the Metropolis community. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 63 ½ years, Bill Harris; 2 daughters, Sally West and husband Terry of Massac County and Sandy Garland and husband Ray of Lone Oak, KY; 1 brother, Walter Reynolds Jr. and wife Doris of Kenosha, WI; 4 grandchildren, Chad West of Dallas, TX, Matthew Hultman of Lexington, KY, Natalie West of Oahu, HI, and Mitch Hultman and wife Sarah of Murray, KY; family friend, Brian Bleeker; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.Friends may call to the Community Christian Church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013.Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the Community Christian Church 1150 Country Club Road Metropolis, IL 62960 or Gideons International P.O.
