Pepper Cole, age 73 of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away at 9:35 pm on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Rev. Randy L. Cole will officiate. Pepper is survived by sons, Orville E. "Buster" Cole and Donnie R. Cole Jr. and wife Teresa; Bobby Ball, whom she considered a son, all of Metropolis, IL; 5 grandchildren, Robert Ray "Bobby" Cole of Metropolis, IL, Brittany Cole of Lone Oak, KY, Brooklyn Cole of Metropolis, IL, Kaylee Cole and Makayla Cole both of Buncombe, IL; 3 great grandchildren, Hunter, Audrey, and Emery; 1 great grandchild on the way, Eleanor; 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Ross of Bourbonnais, IL and Harriett Wharton of Altamont, IL; several nieces and nephews. Pepper was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Ellen (Wilson) Calhoun; husband, Donnie R. Cole, Sr.; grandson, Donnie Ramer Cole; 2 sisters, Gene Watkins and Pat Thompson; 2 brothers, John Wilson Calhoun and Orville Eugene Calhoun. There will not be any visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service. Pallbearers will be Mike Ross, Mark Ross, Scott Wharton, Kevin Watkins, Monte Calhoun, and Joe Calhoun.
