Mrs. Odessa Rushing, age 88, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 7:17 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. Odessa Harris was born December 23, 1927 to George and Bessie Murry Harris. She was united in marriage to Melvin Rushing on January 3, 1948. Private graveside services were held in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Odessa is survived by her daughter, Janice L. Rushing McDuffee of Metropolis; two grandchildren, Michael McDuffee and wife Stephanie of Metropolis and Philip McDuffee of Sydney, Australia; two great grandchildren, Ashton and Destiny McDuffee; two step great grandchildren, Jessica Sommer and Kydra Calvin; 3 nieces and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Bessie Harris; husband of 66 years, Melvin; son-in-law, Stanley McDuffee; five sisters, Agnes Medley, Elva Phillips, Adele Harris, and Golda Schrenenberg; two brothers, Ellis Harris, George L.
