Dr. Norval R. Kelley, age 88, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 at his residence.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Aikins Farmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Dr. Calvin Cole and Rev. Matthew Kelley will officiate. Norval was born on August 3, 1925 in Union County, IL to Aldolphus and Iva Kelley. He served as a radio operator in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Salt Lake City. Norval was married on July 5, 1947 to Marcella J. Karraker and in this union they had 3 sons. Dr. Kelley was a practicing chiropractor in Metropolis from 1954 to 1987 and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband and family man and will be dearly missed.Norval is survived by his wife, Marcella Kelley of Metropolis; 2 sons, Lloyd G. Kelley and wife Debbie of Brentwood, TN and Kevin R. Kelley and wife Sheila of Metropolis; 3 grandsons, Rev. Matthew Kelley and wife Jessica, Andrew Kelley and wife Alexis, and Karson Kelley; 3 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Wayne Kelley; his brother, Amel Kelley; and his sister, Vertis (Kelley) Clutts.Friends may call to the Aikins Farmer Funeral Home on October 18 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.Memorials may take the form of contributions to Arlington United Methodist Church 1360 Murfreesboro Road Nashville, TN 37217.
