Mr. Norman E. Harris, age 85, of Brookport, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his home.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015, at the Brookport Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Staton and Rev. Bob Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the Home Place Cemetery on Bay City Road in Pope Co., IL, with military rites.Norman was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in New Liberty, the Pope County-Hardin County Farm Bureau, a Lifetime Member of Bay City Masonic Lodge #771, and an Army Korean War Veteran. Mr. Harris was a farmer, rural mail carrier, and belonged to the Pope Co. Fire District, the Brookport American Legion, and Brookport VFW.Norman is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Kaylor Harris of Brookport; four children, Vicki Harris and special friend Greg Mugge, Don Harris and wife Kelly, Doug Harris, and Mendi Werner and fiance Red Stafford; five grandchildren, Ashley Frey and husband Brandon, Blake Harris, Casey Harris and fiancé Frankie Forthman, Chelsi Werner, and Emeli Werner; one nephew, Jeff Wiley.He was preceded in death by his parents, Grunda and Madge (Taylor) Harris; two sisters, Thelma Gill and husband Tom and Deloris Wiley and husband Ivan.Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Brookport Funeral Home.
