Mr. Nelson Waggoner, 70, of Elizabethtown, IL and Metropolis, IL, passed away on April 30, 2013 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO.A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Elizabethtown, IL. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.Nelson was born Feburary 27, 1943 in Rosiclare, IL, to Abner T. and Robbie (Matthews) Waggoner. He was employed as the Parts Manager at Linwood Motors of Metropolis for 35 years. Lindell and Kathryn Eickholz, owners of Linwood Motors, their sons Jeff and Dr. Jim and their children were his second family.Nelson was an avid Kentucky Wildcats and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a kind generous man who will be remembered for his many kindnesses and his friendly manner.Nelson is survived by his 2 brothers, Russell Waggoner and wife Susan of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Floyd Waggoner and wife Bobbie of Carterville, IL; 2 nieces, Kim Zeller and husband Adam of Spring, TX, and Monica Barnes and husband Lance of Cape Girardeau, MO; 1 nephew, Maj. Matthew Waggoner and wife Christy of Scott Air Force Base and 2 great-nephews, Logan Waggoner and Benjamin Zeller.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society which will be accepted at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home or may be mailed to 4503 W.
