Mrs. Nelma Bremer, age 70, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Metropolis with Rev. Don Lindner officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Cemetery.Mrs. Bremer had worked at Southgate Nursing and Rehab Center, was a substitute teacher's aide for Massac Unit 1, a board member of MAP Training Center in Karnak, IL, and was a gifted quilter. She was a member of Metropolis First Baptist Church.Nelma is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lloyd Bremer of Metropolis; son, Michael Bremer of Metropolis; one brother, Jim Modglin and wife Sue of Metropolis; one sister, Pat Turnbow of Granada Hills, CA; one aunt, Shirley McFarland of Pearland, TX; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Modglin and an infant brother, Lee Modglin.Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, at the St. John Lutheran Church.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to MAP Training Center, 504 E. 7th St. Karnak, IL, 62956 or the Alzheimer's Association of IL, 8430 W.
