Mrs. Nancy Kathryn (Walters) Oliver, age 77, of Metropolis, IL, passed away unexpectedly and went home to be with the Lord with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Baptist Health Paducah. She was born on May 15, 1938 in Metropolis to Jessie Irene (Yates) and James Marion Walters, Sr.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at the First Christian Church in Metropolis. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Metropolis.Nancy married Jerry Wayne Oliver on October 28, 1956, at the First Christian Church in Metropolis where she was a member. She was very musically talented, being able to play the trumpet, accordion, saxophone, organ and piano. After retiring from the Public Aid office for 30 years as Child Support Specialist, she held various positions in the community including trip coordinator for ComBank and Chamber of Commerce secretary. Nancy was currently employed at the Metropolis Public Library.Nancy is survived by three daughters, Kathy Rushing and husband Randy, Susan Flannery and husband Craig, and Jamey Mitchell and husband Tim all of Metropolis; one brother, James Walters Jr. and wife Jenny of Metropolis; seven grandchildren, Zachary Rushing of Lake Charles, LA, Candace Flannery Armstrong and husband Blair of Metropolis, Amanda Rushing Holbrook and husband Daniel of Metropolis, Ryan Flannery and wife Marissa of Flower Mound, TX, Cody Mitchell and fiancé Stephanie Edwards of Murray, KY, Carlin Flannery and Laken Mitchell both of Metropolis; five great grandchildren, Wilke Armstrong and Logan Holbrook both of Metropolis, Madison and Rylan Kate Flannery of Flower Mound, TX, and Blakely Armstrong of Metropolis; special great grandchildren, Della, Sandra and Wyatt; four nephews, James Walters III, Russ Walters, Brett Walters, and David Oliver; one niece, Kim Futrell; Uncle, Phil Walters; aunt, Bernice Yates; brother-in-law, Danny Oliver and wife Norma; one special dog, Kenzie; and several cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
