Millege Bremer, 78, of Massac County, IL, died at 7 am, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long, hard battle with illness.He was a teacher, principal, and coach at New Columbia Elementary and taught at Jefferson Elementary and Pope County High School. He attended and was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Massac County.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cynthia Campbell Bremer; his son, Bradley (Sue) Bremer of Colebrook, CT; his daughters, Brenda (Gary) Glastetter of Cape Girardeau, MO and Carol Bremer of St. Louis, MO; and grandsons, Jason Glastetter and Ted Bremer and granddaughter Caroline Bremer.He is also survived by his brothers, Reuben (Dorothy) Bremer and Dale (Jane) Bremer; sister, Mildred Wilson, all of Massac County; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Krueger Bremer; father, Noah Bremer; brother, Lloyd Bremer.Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church. Rev. Don Lindner and Rev. Ken Gibson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Visitation will be held on Monday evening, May 20, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis and on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 9 am until the funeral hour at the church.Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 5187 Old Marion Road, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.Pallbearers will be Jason Glastetter, Ted Bremer, Jeff Bremer, Doug Hawes, Adam Westerman, Gary Glastetter, Larry Markus, and Mutt McDearmon.Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Deasel, Chris Quatlebaum, Ronnie Koch, Gene Tilker, Jon Stewart, Gale Hunerkoch, Juan Bautista, and Price Coakley.
