Milledge F. Mescher, age 88 of rural Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 1:50 am on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Zion Evangelical Church with Pastor Jim Duncan and Pastor Frank Forthman officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Evangelical Church cemetery.

Milledge was a retired truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was a mason, member of Zion Evangelical Church, the Operating Engineers Local 12, and served his country in the United States Army.

Milledge is survived by his wife of 28 years, Opal Mescher; daughters, Beverly Azevedo and husband Donald and Judy Rodgers and husband Patrick; grandchildren, Ashley, Michelle, Christopher, and Patrick; great grandchildren, Kaeley, Chevelle, Ryder, and Julianne; sisters, Maxine McBride and Carolyn Villarreal and husband Larry; step children, Rick Yates, Shelley Yates, David Yates, and Roy Richardson and wife Christina; step grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Nicholas, Jean, Heather, Lindsey, Josh, and Cassie; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Milledge was preceded in death by his parents, Louis G. and Effie (Teckenbrock) Mescher; sisters, Ruby Mescher, Pauline Brinkman (Worth), Velma Eckenberg (Carl), and Anna Mae Patmore; brothers, Floyd Mescher (Nancy) and George William Mescher (Helen); brother-in-law, Russell McBride.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 9 am to 11 am at Zion Evangelical Church.

Memorials may be made in Milledge's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.

Pallbearers will be Brian Miller, Travis Collier, Steve Mescher, Chase Bowers, Brian Huff, Richard Yates, Brent Manley.
