Mildred Ann Lassiter, age 88, of Metropolis, IL, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at her home per her wishes.A brief graveside service gathering family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015, in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation.Mildred Ann Johns was born on August 24, 1927 in Vienna, IL to Wendell and Lydia (Stout) Johns. Mildred was retired after 25 years as a licensed practical nurse; a career she loved and was so proud of. She was one of the true Florence Nightingale's of our time. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Metropolis. Mildred is survived by her daughters, Denise Lynch and husband Richard of Huntsville, AL, and Deborah Kay Lewis and husband James Butch Lewis of Metropolis. She was blessed by her grandchildren, Shannon Lynch of Tuscaloosa, AL, David Lynch of Huntsville, AL, Meghan and Derek Foster of Huntsville, AL, Annie Lynch and Adam Sahyouni of Alexandria, VA, Autumn Faughn and Matt Dwyer of Nashville, TN, Scott and Catlin Faughn of St. Louis MO, Keith Faughn of St. Louis, MO, and Arista and Tory Hicks of Symsonia, KY. He pride, joy, and happiness were her two great grandchildren, Owen Hult Hicks of Symsonia, KY, and Adeline Grace Sahyouni of Alexandria, VA.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Lassiter; two brothers, James Wendell Johns and Lionel Johns; one sister, Kathleen Clanahan; two grandchildren, Jacqueline June Lynch and Robert Lynch.Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis is in charge of arrangements.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
