Mike Tyson, age 68 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Crown Masonic Cemetery.

Mike had worked at TVA Shawnee Steam Plant, was of the Baptist faith, and was extremely talented carpenter, plumber, electrician, and woodworker. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved horses and raising German Shepards. He was a very gifted athlete. While attending Metropolis Community High School, he set records in the long jump, triple jump, and was on the 4x100 relay team. He went to state for track and field his junior and senior year.

Mike is survived by his mother, Mollie Belle (Barfield) Tyson; sisters, Jo Ann Lay, Rosie Eskridge and husband Randy, and Benita Reynolds and husband Tim; brothers, Caster Tyson and wife Pam (Koenigsmark) and Mitchal Tyson and wife Nietha; special friend, Vee Merino; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.

Michel was preceded in death by his father, John B. “J.B.” Tyson, Jr.; nephew, Ryan Scott; brother-in-law, Roger Lay.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 11 am to 12 noon at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Mitchal Tyson, Caster Tyson, Jay Tyson, Lamar Tyson, Ryan Scott, Addison Scott, Jordan Tyson, and Devron Tyson.
