Mary "Jo" House held Jesus' hand and went to be with the Lord on Oct. 31, 2016 at the age of 72. Mary Jo was born on March 20, 1944. She was a graduate of Joppa High School and the school of cosmetology.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Gerell Cain officiating. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery in Boaz, IL.
Mary Jo had many hobbies: fishing, ceramics, traveling, and family gatherings. She found great joy and love of all the many beautiful flowers she raised and cared for. She was an avid gardener, canning everything she could, and loved cooking family dinners, especially when she got to cook the fish she had just caught. She always enjoyed the time spent with her many friends and making cherished memories. Each and every one she saw was touched by her loved, kindness, and humor.
Mary is survived by one son, William Kelly House; one daughter, Shelly Elizabeth Gould; grandchildren, Mary Rebecca House, Alex Copley and special love Carrie, James Garion House, William Nash House, Trista Grace House, and Henery Jase House; two brothers, Sam Castleman and wife Judy, and Mitchell Story and wife Ellen; one sister, Margaret Hook and husband Harry; one cousin, Janice Hemphill; several nieces, nephews, and longtime friend, Rae Street.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Giss and Ola Lauderdale; aunt and uncle, Henry and Margie Schmidt; mother, Mary Davidson; husband, Paul; father, Woodrow Joe Story; and three brothers, Bill Castleman and wife Jane, and Woodrow and Mike Story.
