Mary Effie Conder, age 87, of Metropolis, IL passed away at 6:00 am on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her residence.Mary Effie Conder was born on December 7, 1926 to William Thomas and Nancy Wynick Bradford in Slayden, TN. She grew up in Slayden and married William Carl Conder, a commercial fisherman, and then moved to Clifton, TN. During this time Mary was saved and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into her life in October of 1948.Mary moved to Joppa, Illinois in 1951 where William Conder took a job at Griffin Marine. Mary was a wonderful homemaker and mother to their 10 children. She always went to church and had a Christian home.William passed away in October of 1961 and Mary stayed on with their children in Joppa, Illinois. She attended church at Mermet Pentecostal Church for over 40 years and most recently attended church with her daughter, Annie at Waldo Baptist Church in Metropolis, IL.Mary is survived by her children, in age order, Mary Francis Lott, John Carl Conder (Cathy), Earnest Ray Conder (Vickie), Annie Lou Garduno (Robert), George Steven Conder (Carol), Helen Bernice Roberts, Linda Nell Conder, Herman Lee Conder, and Brandon Lynn Conder (Kendal); several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.Mary was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, John Jr Bradford, Samuel Bradford, Thomas Bradford, Ella Miller, Bertha Mae Morrison, Ovalee Reep, Bertha Sarene Bradford, William Bradford, and Clemantine Bradford; one son, Robert Gwinn Conder; 2 granddaughters, Sandra Lahoma Conder and Melanie Ann Sutton; one grandson, Raymond Pannell Jr.Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Miller Funeral Home. Rev. Sam Roberts will officiate.
