Mary Ruth Brannon, age 93 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Father Mujule officiating. Burial will follow at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mary had worked at the DMV for a very long time where she worked the counter and administered road exams. She was of Catholic faith and a member of the St. Rosa of Lima Catholic Church for many years. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and became the first female Democratic County Chair. She enjoyed staying up-to-date on current news and was politically savvy. She was great at crossword puzzles and enjoyed doing them in her free time. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Mary Ruth is survived by her daughters, Kerian Riley Brannon and Kelyn Joann Brannon; grandchildren, Liam Brannon Ahn and Caitlyn Riley Ahn.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Allen and Ana Marie (Fowler) Riley; spouses, Willis Brannon and Edward Dean Powell; son, Kevin Arthur Brannon; and brother, Lowell Allen Riley.

A visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. As well as 1 pm on Sunday October 4 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kerian Riley Brannon, Kelyn Joann Brannon, Liam Brannon Ahn, Jeff Stafford, April Mettler, Cait Riley Ahn.
