Marvin W. Konertz, age 74 of Joppa, Illinois formerly of Tampa, Florida passed away at 2:50 am on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Massac Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Shane Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillerman Baptist Church Cemetery. Marvin was employed for 32 years for D. Myers and Sons, and was currently employed as a Sales Representative for Jade Shoes Inc. He was a member of Living Waters Full Gospel in Joppa and had been a Cub Scout Master for 15 years. Marvin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sylvia (Mitchell) Konertz of Joppa; daughter, Marquetta Straka and husband Bob of Carol Stream, IL; son, John Konertz of Joppa. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Esther (Hanson) Konertz. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening March 14, 2018 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis.
