Mr. Marvin Albert Cole, age 78, of Metropolis, died at 11:50 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015 at his residence.A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Fletcher officiating. Marvin was born in Metropolis on January 12, 1937. He married Velma Jane Bowman on June 26, 1958. Mr. Cole was a retired general contractor and homebuilder. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Metropolis. He gave many years of community service and ministry work until he was diagnosed with cancer. Marvin took great satisfaction in being with his family and friends.Marvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Velma Jane Cole; four daughters, Alberta Terry and husband Ray, Debra Brumley and husband Norman, Jamie Cole-Blanchard and fiancé David Sanford and Babetta Cole; five grandchildren, Christopher Terry and wife Amy, Alicia Hornback and husband Joe, Tosha Jones and fiancé Nakia Martin, Joshua Jone sand fiancé Jolene Taylor and Cheyenne Rankin; four great grandchildren, Zana Doung, Aidan Terry, Ashton Hornback, and Ahna Jones; two brothers, Lyndell Cole and wife Sue and Edward Cole and wife Wanda; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosalie (Bailey) Cole; 7 brothers and sisters, Charles Cole, Donnie Cole, William Joe Cole, Mary Anderson, Helen Hall, Sherman Cole, and Roberta Cole; several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
