Lyndell Ray Ramsey, age 84 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 1:52 am on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at his son’s home surrounded by his family.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Rev. Keith Tilford officiating.

Lyndell married Linda Wells on November 9, 1963 at the First Christian Church in Metropolis, Illinois and together they shared over 57 years of marriage until her passing on April 15, 2021. Lyndell was a life long farmer, worked at Mermet Grain Company for many years, and a member of First Christian Church in Metropolis, where he was active in the Loyal Hearts Sunday School Class.

Lyndell is survived by his son, Shawn Ramsey and wife Valerie; daughter-in-law, Patricia Ramsey; grandchildren, Andrew Ramsey, Jacob Ramsey, and Samantha Ramsey; sister, Bonnie Giltner; nieces, Kelley Sullivan, Leslie Grant, and Lea Ann Flood; nephews, Steve Helm, Don Helm, Brian Giltner, and Bruce Giltner.

Lyndell was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Kathleen (Burklow) Ramsey; wife, Linda (Wells) Ramsey; son, Michael Ramsey; sister, Bessie Helm; brother, Larry Ramsey; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sullivan; brothers-in-law, Don Sullivan, James Giltner, and Floyd Helm.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Ramsey, Jacob Ramsey, Andrew Ramsey, Colton Logeman, J.T. Obermark, and Jeff Windhorst.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Samantha Ramsey.
