Lowell G. Ashford, 86, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Monday October 5, 2020 in Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Rev. Shane Baker officiating. There will be no visitation. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Lowell was a member of Living Waters Church and a local businessman for many years.

Lowell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Velma (Lowry) Ashford; daughter, Kathy Steele and husband John; five grandchildren, Misty York (Doug), Amanda Steele, Michael Englehart, Monte Englehart, and Keri Johnson (Quintin "Matt"); several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Charlotte Ashford; stepdaughter, Karla Kay Sawyers; grandson, Jeremy Newberry; 1 sister and 2 brothers.
