(Holder) Burk
September 12, 1941 – November 3, 2024
Linda Ray Burk, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on November 3rd, 2024, at 1pm with her family by her side. Born in Metropolis, Illinois, Linda was a devoted wife to Haven E. Burk for 58 years, and together they shared one son Brian E. Burk.
Linda had a passion for arts and crafts and loved to read mystery novels. She was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition to her hobbies, she was an active member and president of her sorority, Sigma Beta Phi that she joined in June of 1975.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday November 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
She is survived by her brothers, Gary Allen Holder and his wife, Louise, "who held a special place in Linda's life" of Metropolis, IL, Kenny Holder of Paducah, KY, and Jerry Holder and wife Gail of Ledbetter, KY; sister-in-law, Darla Holder of Grand Rivers, KY; stepchildren, David Burk and his wife Janet of Johnson City, IL, and Rhonda McCurdy and her husband Bill of Metropolis, IL. Linda is also survived by her special aunt, Shirley K. English and husband Archie of Greenville, TN.
Linda was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Cody Burk and his wife Lindsey, Drayke Burk and his wife Carley, Zach Burk and his fiancé Haley, Robin Foster, Heather Foster Crenshaw and her husband Ritchie. Linda is survived by a large and loving family, including her nieces, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Linda was predeceased in death by her husband, Haven E. Burk; son, Brian Burk; father, Willie Ray Holder; mother, Louise Bay; stepmother, Doris Holder; and brothers, Harvey Holder and Terry Holder.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to daughter-in-law, Madison, and Linda's hospice nurse, Taylor Stephens, for the help and care that they gave during this difficult time.
Pallbearers will be Cody Burk, Drayke Burk, Zach Burk, Addam Holder, Gary W. Holder, and Gage Holder.
