Lillie Mae Pugh, 92 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Massac Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 2, 1932 in Tiptonville, TN.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Pugh enjoyed watching western movies and loved country and rock 'n roll music. She was a resident at Metropolis Rehab Center in Metropolis and was loved by many and thought of the staff as her family.
She leaves behind a large family of eleven children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. We as a family lost our anchor and the world lost the opportunity to know a woman of true grit and substance. She will be sorely missed, but we have our hearts full of love and memories.
Mother, as you face the journey into your heavenly home, rest in peace knowing that we will join you soon. We love you. RIP.
Lillie is survived by 11 of her children, Patricia Pugh Garcia of Anaheim, CA, Sheila Pugh Kennedy (Ken) of Hendersonville, TN, Dennis Pugh (Belinda) of Metropolis, Teddy Pugh of Chapel Hill, NC, Felisa Pugh Burnham of Loretta, TN, Hubert Pugh Jr. of Florence, CO, Randy Pugh (Bonnie) of Metropolis, Teresa Pugh of Indianapolis, IN, Michael Kent Mitchell of Metropolis, Rhonda Light of Metropolis, and Brian Pugh (Heather Story) of Metropolis; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Mae Foster, whom she loved dearly; husband, Hubert E. Pugh; son, Ronald D. "Jake" Pugh; grandson, Reggie Marshall Jr.; beloved daughter-in-law, Rosemary Pugh; sons-in-law, Virgil Burnham and Brian Wilson Sr.; sisters, Ruby Thomas and Hester "Bobo" Griffin.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24th at the funeral home.
The family would like to pay special appreciation to the entire staff and healthcare providers at Metropolis Rehab Center. Thank you for the years of special care you showed our mother. Thank you to the staff at Massac Memorial Hospital. We would also like to say a special thank you to John and Karen Griffin. Your visits and calls meant so much to her. Family is the definition of "A Union of Love".
On behalf of the entire family, we want to thank Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Emily, you are an angel to help family members through this trying and horrific loss.
A special thank you also goes to Pastor Charles Tate for officiating mom's service on Saturday.
