Mrs. Allene Kommer, age 83 of Kevil, KY formerly of Metropolis, IL passed away at 8:30 am on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis. Rev. Everett Shaw will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Allene worked at the Good Luck Glove Factory and retired from City National Bank where she worked as a custodian. She attended the First Church of God in Metropolis. She loved quilting, feeding birds, and gardening.She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles F. Kommer of Kevil, KY; 2 sons, Leroy Kommer and wife Margaret of West Paducah, KY and Bradley Kommer and wife Cheryl of Hamel, IL; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Virg Lottila of WI, Katherine Hart and Jan McDonald both of Paducah, KY; 1 brother, William Medley of Peru, IL; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, William Bill and Laura Helen (Peck) Medley; 3 sisters, Geraldine Ross, Linda Medley, and Adell Rhodes; brother, Dick Medley; an infant brother.Visitation will be held on Sunday evening November 17, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis.
