Lester J. Meinders, age 93 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 4:55 am on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Miller-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. Kent Hollis officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Lester was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman during World War II. He owned and operated a Prairie Farms Distributorship for 30 plus years and was a farmer.

Lester is survived by his children, Mark Meinders, Randy Meinders and wife Beth, Aaron Meinders and wife Jackie; step children, James Pratte Jr. and wife Vickie, Michael Pratte and wife Joi, Sheila Graves and husband Harley, Cindy Walker and husband David; grandchildren, Nathan Meinders, Leslie Hall, Randall Meinders, Amber Bremer, and Elizabeth Ellis; step grandchildren, Mikel Bray, David Swegman, Ashley James, Jeremy Meadows, Christopher Meadows, Stephanie Pratte, James Pratte, and Wes Graves; sister, Florence Korte and husband Bill; brother, Wayne Meinders and wife Mary; several nieces and nephews.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lena (Verbarg) Meinders; wife, Jean Meinders; daughter, Venus Schmidt; sisters, Virgie Hausman and Ruby Bakke.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 10 am to 1 pm at Miller-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
