Leonard "Dale" Meyer 74 of Joppa, Illinois went to be with the Lord at 5:03 A.M. on March 1, 2014 with his loving wife by his side. Dale attended Joppa Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member for many years. In addition to being a faithful servant of his church, Dale had a passion for aviation and flying his airplane. Funeral services will be 11:00A.M. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Aikins Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. David Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Dale is survived by his wife of 27 years Betty, one son, Corey Meyer and his wife Shannon of Arlington Heights, IL, daughter Narvetta Meyer, of Mt. Prospect, IL, two step sons William Hatfield and wife Belinda of Anna, IL, and Todd Hatfield and his wife Kelley of Monument, CO, Four grandchildren Britney Meyer, Lindsey Meyer, and Shawn Meyer all of Arlington Heights, IL, and Justin Meyer of Mt. Prospect, CO, Step Grandchildren Pete Hatfield and his wife Bridi of Ballwin, MO, Ashley Hatfield and her husband Stephen of Anna, IL, Tyler Hatfield of Columbus, MS, Jackson Hatfield of Monument, CO, and Zachary Hatfield of Monument, CO, one Step Great Granddaughter Emily Hatfield of Ballwin, MO, two brothers Don Meyer and wife Shirley of Hillerman, IL, and Gale Meyer and his wife Joy of Rockford, IL, and one sister, Dinah Shrum and her husband Jim of Metropolis, as well as several nieces and nephews.
