Leonard Childress, 86 of Metropolis, IL, formerly of Dyersburg, TN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Leonard was a factory worker in the steel mills in Chicago, IL, then moved to Dyersburg, TN and worked at the Dyersburg Cotton Mill until his retirement.

Leonard is survived by his children, Christopher Childress, Joseph Childress and Anne Marie Childress; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Ruth (Rollins) Childress; 10 siblings, Martha Bishop, Nora Chism, Macy Ante, Dorthy Maleno, Ann Vargason, Shirley Bitler, George B. Childress, John Ralph Childress, Syble Fischer, and Marie Dorris.
