Lee Delacey, age 71, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah in Paducah, Kentucky. He went peacefully into the arms of our Father in Heaven, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Lee was born on October 22, 1954, in Owensboro, Kentucky. He is survived by his significant other of 35 years, Barbara Harding; his son, Allen Delacey; his daughter, Christina Wiggins (Jojo); and two grandsons, Logan and Lance; his sisters, Connie Snyder (Walt) and Georgie Pasbt (Bob); and his brother, Allen Delacey; several nieces and nephews.

Lee was also blessed to have an additional family who held a special place in his heart, including Richard Monkman, the late Jessie Monkman; Keith and Chris Burnham and their family; and Bill Monkman. Lee was truly grateful for each and every one of you and for the love, friendship, and support you shared with him throughout his life.

Lee also had a special love for his dogs, Pepe, Eli, and Mini, as well as his extended family and their dogs, Rhett and Graham. His love for them was a cherished part of his life, and they brought him countless moments of companionship, happiness, and joy.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Oden Delacey and Helen Walters; and his brother, Frank Delacey.

Lee was truly one of a kind. He had a way of lighting up any room with his stories and conversation, and if you ever needed to know something about a semi, he could probably tell your everything there was to know. For more than 20 years, Lee made his living behind the wheel, traveling the highways across the country and delivering loads from one destination to the next. The open road was a major part of his life, and he spent countless days and miles seeing different places and meeting people along the way.

Outside of his work on the road, Lee enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an avid Western enthusiast who loved watching old cowboy films and classic Westerns. He also had a deep appreciation for old-time music and enjoyed spending time fishing whenever he had the opportunity.

Lee was a hardworking man who was proud of the life he lived. To those who knew and loved him, he will always be remembered for his unique personality, his stories, his love of trucking, his dogs, his appreciation for the old ways, and the lasting impression he left on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Now, Lee has taken his final journey down the highway to Heaven, where the roads are always open and his big rig is never far away.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Metropolis Memorial Gardens in Metropolis, Illinois. Please join us as we honor the life of Lee and share in remembering a truly one-of-a-kind man. His life was filled with love, laughter, memories, and the many lives he touched along the way. We invite family, friends, and loved ones to come together to honor his memory and remember the remarkable mane he was.
