Obituary

LaWanda Sullivan Doyle, 89 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at her home with loving family by her side.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis with Pastor Bryan Morrison officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

LaWanda was a member of the First Church of God in Metropolis and the Eastern Star. She had worked at the Royale Movie Theater, Five Point Restaurant and the Good Luck Glove Factory. LaWanda enjoyed cooking, reading recipes, going to church and out to eat. She was a devoted wife, mother and housewife and is going to be dearly missed.

LaWanda is survived by her children, Susan Ducharme and husband Arthur, George Sullivan and Patrick Sullivan and wife Kim; grandchildren, Angela Dodson, Justin Dodson (Krystal), Nick Sullivan, Josh Sullivan (Amber), Jacob Sullivan (Kristen), and Alex Lang (Bailie); and 13 great grandchildren.

LaWanda was preceded in death by her parents, Alvey and Della (Brigman) Rushing; 1st husband, Martin "Bud" Sullivan; 2nd husband, Charles Doyle; grandson, Jordan Sullivan; and sister, Imogene McGrew.

Memorial contributions may be given in LaWanda's name to Happy Hearts Senior Center, 711 Market Street, Metropolis, IL 62960.
