Lavern Ansel Whitelock age 100 of Metropolis, IL passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015. He was born in the Mermet Community and lived his entire life in Massac Co. He was the son of Clarence and Louise (Kotter) Whitelock. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Shalom Renner officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 73 years Geraldine (McFatridge) Whitelock; two sons, Lindell Whitelock and wife Linda of Jamesville, WI, Michael Whitelock of Metropolis, IL; Two granddaughters, Linda Kay Whitelock of Madison WI, and Laura Martin and husband Andy of Milwaukee, WI; Two great granddaughters, Abigail and Isabel Martin both of Milwaukee, WI; Several nieces and one nephew.He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Katherine Whitelock, 3 brothers, Leon, Casper Clarence , and Cledus (Billy) Whitelock.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis, and was a farmer and Custodian at Shawnee College.Memorials may be given to Lourdes Hospice, 616 Market St. Metropolis, IL 62960 or First United Methodist Church, 100 E. 5th St. Metropolis, IL 62960Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home Tuesday August 11, 2015 from 10 until the funeral hour at 11 a.m.
