Laura Margarette Wright, 91, of Metropolis, formerly of Ullin, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Misty Meadows Assisted Living in Metropolis. Mrs. Wright, the former Margarette Carman, was a member of First Baptist Church of Metropolis and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wright, who passed away last year after 69 years of marriage, as well as her parents, one sister, and one grandson. Surviving are one daughter, Carmen Thompson; one grandson, Brandon Thompson; and one great-granddaughter, Elin Paige Thompson, all of Metropolis. She is also survived by a niece, Patsy Shelby of Anna, IL. There will be no visitation or service. A private burial will follow at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.
