Laura A. Smith, age 99 of Metropolis, IL passed away at 5:55 am on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, IL. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Mt. Sterling Church Cemetery in Unionville, IL. Rev. David LeNeave will officiate.Laura is survived by 2 sister-in-laws, Irene Burrus of New Orleans, LA and Kathryn Burrus of Brookport, IL; 2 nieces, Marilyn Mislove of Madisonville, LA and Anita Vineyard of Broken Arrow, OK; 4 nephews, Herbert Burrus of Brookport, IL, Wayne Vineyard of Wake Forest, NC, Mike Vineyard of South Bridge, MA, and Mark Vineyard of Wake Forest, NC Laura was preceded in death by her parents, John Weldon and Ruth Belle (Curry) Burrus; husband, Leon Smith; brothers, Edward Burrus and John Clinton BurrusThere will not be any visitation.
