Kenneth Gurley, age 69 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Lourdes Hospital.Graveside services with military rites will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Masonic #10 Cemetery in New Columbia, IL. Rev. David Le Neave will officiate.Kenneth was retired from Honeywell, an Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 306, and enjoyed woodworking and mechanic work.Kenneth is survived by his wife of 47 years, Regina (Scurlock) Gurley; daughter, Miranda Valcourt and husband Ralf; granddaughters, Kristine and Kearra Valcourt; niece, Stephanie (Gurley) Ervin all of Metropolis, Illinois.Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Wilma (Hinds) Gurley; brother, Steve Gurley; brother-in-law and special friend, Gerald Henson.Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening January 12, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.Pallbearers will be Mike McKee, Kris McNichols, Kaleb McNichols, Jim Myrick, John Johnston, and Carroll Ballard.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com
