Kate B. Konemann, nee Kidd, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Paducah, Ky on April 21, 2024.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

Born May 3, 1951, Katie was the eldest child of Maurice D. Kidd and Patricia (nee Barfield) and older sister to John Brian Kidd. A nearly lifelong resident of Metropolis, she graduated from Murray State University in 1969, where she earned her Bachelor's in Education. Katie began her teaching career at Meridian School District, later working for Massac Unit 1 where she taught for over 35 years. As an avid reader and English teacher, all cards and letters sent to family should have proper spelling and grammar!

Katie taught English and literature at Massac County High School where she, in her own words, "killed off Romeo and Juliet" more times than she cared to admit. Her passions included reading, especially her favorite author Stephen King, cross stitch and the St. Louis Cardinals. After her retirement in 2011, she loved hearing from her former students about how she helped them or any favorite stories from her classroom.

On June 27, 1975, she made her husband Allan the happiest man on the planet by agreeing to marry him. The were wed on the hottest day of the year at First Christian Church in Metropolis. To their union were born a son, Corey Bryan Konemann and a daughter, Megan Marie (Konemann) Jackson. While Katie had her passions and hobbies, her true pride and joy was her family, which meant everything to her.

Preceding her in death are her parents and her beloved animals, pug Bo and cat Baby Kitty. Katie leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 48 years, Allan Ray; her son Corey and wife India Hickman of Jackson, TN; her daughter Megan and husband Oliver Jackson of Richmond, VA; her brother John Brian Kidd and wife Jeannie of Louisville, KY. She also leaves behind her brothers-in-law and spouses, many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as her teacher friends and the numerous students whose lives she touched during her tenure.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one of the following organizations: American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or Project Hope Humane Society.
