Karen (Burnham) Smith, age 74 of Brookport, Illinois passed away at 11:15 am on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at her residence.

There will not be any visitation or services.

Mrs. Smith was a retired cook with Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and a member of the Samoth Pentecostal Church.

Karen is survived by her husband of 28 years, James Smith of Brookport, IL; two daughters, Stacey Shreves of Brookport and Sheri Appelt of Mayfield, KY; four sons, Kevin Ford of Karnak, IL, Steven Ford of Metropolis, Kenton Ford of Swansboro, NC, and James Appelt of Metropolis; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Norman Burnham and wife Marilyn of McKenzie, TN, Larry Burnham and wife Rose, Dennis Burnham and wife Imogene, Kenneth Burnham and wife Tammy all of Metropolis, IL; sisters, Linda Gilbert of Kankakee, IL, Cheryl Burnham of Metropolis, Rita Barger and husband James of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Olis and Beulah Pauline (Herman) Burnham; grandson, Michael Ford; sister, Emily Johnston; brother, Wayne Allen Burnham; an infant brother, Gale Burnham.
