Juan L. "Bim" Lackey, age 91 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 4:50 am on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Metropolis Healthcare Center.Funeral services will be held at 6 pm on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Rev. David Siere will officiate. Graveside services with military rites will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 12 noon at the Arborcrest Memorial Park in Funkhouser, IL.Juan was a retired newspaper typesetter. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was an E-5 in the US Navy serving during World War II on the Battleship USS California. He survived, at the age of 18, the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.Juan is survived by his son, Juan L. Lackey II and wife Elsie; step children, Linda Underwood, Georgia Toppins, David Hastings, Sue Hansen, and Donna Ray Chambers; many grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Curry; brother-in-law, Robert Schmidt.Juan was preceded in death by his parents, James Bill Lackey and Tuxcedo Starkes Carlson and his wife Lou Lackey.Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 4 to 6 pm at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.Memorials may be made to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight, 57 Country Place, Springfield, IL 62703Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com
